Ayin belongs to the twelve simple letters in Sefer Yetzirah, associated with months and zodiacal signs. Their exact ordering varies by recension; the text does not draw the later Tiphareth to Hod connection assigned to Ayin.
Ayin is a simple letter. Capricorn is the Golden Dawn sign assignment; the eye gloss does not mean that Sefer Yetzirah places a Devil card here.

Kircher puts Ayin on the diagonal from Tiphereth to Hod. The path moves from the center toward the analytical lower-left sphere, a transition later readers frame as fixation or material definition.
Tiphareth contributes beauty or glory, while Hod contributes splendor or majesty.
