Bhavabala measures houses through a directional rule, received aspects, the house lord's full strength, and additional conditions. This guide separates those inputs and names the exact subset the calculator can support.
Bhavabala is not Kendrādi Bala copied onto houses
BPHS chapter 27 follows the planetary strength procedure with a separate Bhava calculation. The directional reference is chosen from the sign or half-sign containing the Bhava midpoint. It does not simply assign every Kendra 60, every Panaphara 30, and every Apoklima 15. Those three groups belong to the Kendrādi subcomponent for grahas.

After selecting the reference, take the shortest separation between the two midpoints and divide the degrees by three. The result ranges from 0 to 60 virūpas.
The house convention used by the tool
Birth mode derives an exact sidereal Lagna from the site's D1 engine. The calculator treats that longitude as the first Bhava midpoint and places the next eleven midpoints at exact 30° intervals. Each equal Bhava spans 15° before through just under 15° after its midpoint. Planetary occupants are assigned from those equal boundaries.
This is an explicit worksheet convention. The site's general D1 display uses Whole Sign houses, whose boundaries start at 0° of the Lagna sign. A Whole Sign house and an equal Bhava can assign a near-boundary planet differently. Sripati and other Bhava Madhya systems can also differ. This page does not relabel one system as another.

The worksheet lists each adjustment separately. It does not add them to a partial score and call that Bhavabala. Occupation is only one addition after the core directional, aspect, and lord-strength inputs.
What a full total still needs
Because the first two missing terms can be large and the time rule can add 15 virūpas, a partial total would support neither a reliable rank nor a required-strength verdict.
Worked directional example
Use 0° Aries as the first equal-house midpoint. Bhava 3 lies at 0° Gemini. Gemini selects the 7th Bhava reference at 0° Libra. Their shortest separation is 120°, so Bhava Dig Bala is 120 ÷ 3 = 40 virūpas. Bhava 7 lies at 0° Libra and also selects the 7th reference, so its directional value is 0. Bhava 10 lies at 0° Capricorn, in the first half of Capricorn; it selects the 4th reference at 0° Cancer. The separation is 180°, giving 60.
If the first midpoint moves to 20° Aries, all midpoints retain 20° within their signs. Sagittarius and Capricorn therefore fall in their second halves and select different reference groups. This is why the exact Lagna degree matters even though the twelve equal midpoints remain 30° apart.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the table show a ruler but no ruler score?
The lord contribution is the lord's full Shadbala. The companion calculator intentionally withholds that total, so this page identifies the ruler without substituting an incomplete sum.
Can I use the graha dṛṣṭi page for Bhava Dṛṣṭi Bala?
No. The graha dṛṣṭi page records full sign aspects. Bhava Dṛṣṭi Bala needs a degree-weighted aspect quantity under a named translation and benefic/malefic convention.
Does the strongest row identify the best area of life?
No. This worksheet does not produce a complete row total, and a traditional strength number is not evidence that a specific event or life outcome will occur.
