What is Ashtakavarga?
Ashtakavarga is a traditional sign-by-sign reckoning used in Jyotiṣa. Each of seven visible grahas receives its own Bhinnāṣṭakavarga (BAV) row. Eight natal references—the same seven grahas plus Lagna—mark selected signs with a bindu. Adding the seven BAV rows by sign produces the raw Sarvāṣṭakavarga (SAV) row.
