Zodiacal Releasing: Levels, Periods, and Loosing of the Bond

The starting point is a calculated lot

Zodiacal releasing in Book IV begins from the Lot of Fortune or the Lot of Daimon, now often called the Lot of Spirit. Both depend on the Ascendant, Sun, Moon, and whether the Sun is above or below the local horizon. A birth time error can change the Ascendant; a horizon crossing can also reverse the two lot formulas. For that reason, a date alone is not enough for an individual timeline.

The calculator uses tropical longitudes and identifies sect from the Sun's geometric altitude at the recorded place and instant. It also lets the reader select the other sect branch for comparison. Fortune and Spirit are reduced to zodiac signs because the period sequence advances by whole signs; the lot's degree does not proportionally shorten the opening period in this implementation.

The twelve sign allotments

Each sign receives the number attached to its traditional ruler, with separate values for the two Saturn signs. Aries and Scorpio take 15; Taurus and Libra 8; Gemini and Virgo 20; Cancer 25; Leo 19; Sagittarius and Pisces 12; Capricorn 27; and Aquarius 30. The complete sequence totals 211 units.

Level 1 and Level 2 use the same order at different scales

Level 1 begins in the lot's sign and moves forward through the zodiac. Its allotments are years. Each Level 1 chapter begins its own Level 2 sequence from the same sign as the parent. At Level 2, the allotments are months. The source calculation treats a year as twelve 30-day months, so this calculator maps one releasing year to 360 elapsed days and one releasing month to 30 elapsed days.

The printed dates therefore drift earlier than civil anniversaries. Fifteen releasing years equal 5,400 days, about 14.78 Gregorian years. This is a stated conversion rule, not a claim that the civil year has 360 days. Comparing this output with a tool that maps the same integers to 365.25-day years will produce different boundaries even if both begin from the same lot sign.

A worked sequence: Gemini Level 1

A Gemini Level 1 chapter lasts 20 releasing years, or 240 releasing months. Its Level 2 periods begin Gemini 20, Cancer 25, Leo 19, Virgo 20, Libra 8, Scorpio 15, Sagittarius 12, Capricorn 27, Aquarius 30, Pisces 12, Aries 15, and Taurus 8. Those twelve periods total 211 months. The chapter has 29 months left.

Instead of returning to Gemini, the sequence jumps to Gemini's opposite sign, Sagittarius. Sagittarius receives 12 months, Capricorn receives 17 of its nominal 27 months, and then the parent Gemini chapter ends. The Sagittarius row is the loosing of the bond; the Capricorn row is marked as cut at the parent boundary.

The same-sign instruction

Book IV gives a special instruction when Fortune and Daimon occupy the same sign: bodily topics continue from that sign, while activity begins from the sign immediately following. The calculator therefore advances the starting sign by one only when Spirit is selected and both calculated lots share a sign. It leaves the Fortune release at the common sign and prints the adjustment beside the result.

What the table can and cannot show

The table answers calculation questions: which sign period contains a UTC moment, when it begins and ends, which traditional ruler belongs to it, whether the Level 2 sequence made the opposite-sign jump, and whether the last row was shortened by its parent boundary. It does not prove that an event was caused by a period, and it does not rate a period as favorable or unfavorable.

Historical interpretation also considers planets in or aspecting the signs, rulers of the lots, and other chart conditions. Adding those judgments would require a separate, fully declared interpretive model. This tool keeps the reproducible timing arithmetic apart from such readings.
