Five unequal bands, not thirty equal signs
Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra 6.27 and Bṛhat Jātaka 1.7 give 5°, 5°, 8°, 7°, and 5° bands ruled by Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus in odd rāśis; the order and widths reverse in even rāśis. This calculator follows the corresponding D30 sign table in P. V. R. Narasimha Rao’s practitioner manual, §6.2.17: odd signs map to Aries, Aquarius, Sagittarius, Gemini, and Libra; even signs map to Taurus, Virgo, Pisces, Capricorn, and Scorpio.
“D30” names this classical varga. It does not mean that the five-band method places each planet into one of thirty equal 1° sign intervals. Some modern treatments describe an equal 1° division under the same D30 label; compare outputs only after checking which convention they use. This tool implements the five unequal bands.

The fixed-sign diagram marks the derived D30 Lagna and grahas. The table keeps the underlying sidereal D1 sign and degree visible, then reports the unequal band, its ruler, and the assigned D30 sign. The D30 position is a traditional remapping, not another observed celestial longitude. Read the D30 calculation guide to verify a boundary by hand.
D30 is associated in Jyotisha with difficult or adverse themes. It is an interpretive framework, not a prediction of injury, illness, or fate; this calculator makes no medical or risk assessment. Birth-data uncertainty matters especially near band boundaries.
