Forty portions of 45′
Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra 6.29 makes the odd/even distinction: begin counting at Aries for an odd D1 rāśi and at Libra for an even D1 rāśi. Forty equal portions of 0°45′ fill each 30° sign. Move forward one D40 sign per portion, cycling through the zodiac three times and then four further signs. The first portion of Aries is D40 Aries; the first portion of Taurus is D40 Libra.
The next verse names twelve presiding deities from Vishnu through Varuna in one repeating order for every sign. This tool reports the deity of each portion alongside its assigned D40 sign. Neither a deity label nor a mapped sign is a separate observed planetary position.

Parāśara 7.5 associates this varga with auspicious and inauspicious results. That is a traditional interpretive use, not a prediction or a measure of someone’s fate. Close boundaries deserve particular caution.
