How relocation works

A relocation chart applies the original birth instant to a new longitude and latitude. The Ascendant, Midheaven, and houses are calculated for that destination. In this geocentric method, the planets keep their natal zodiac positions and may fall in different houses.

The comparison uses the selected Whole Sign, Equal House, Porphyry, Placidus, Campanus, or Regiomontanus system. Placidus, Campanus, and Regiomontanus show a labeled Porphyry fallback where their cusps are unavailable. An uncertain birth time makes angles and houses unreliable; an incorrect historical UTC offset shifts the entire comparison.

Method and limits

What changes at a destination

The calculator keeps the UTC birth moment and geocentric planetary zodiac positions fixed. It recalculates the Ascendant, Midheaven, and house placement for the destination. A planet can move to another house in the comparison without changing its sign or degree.

Time zone belongs to the birth record

Enter the clock time and historical UTC offset of the birthplace. Do not replace that offset with the destination’s current time zone: doing so would change the underlying birth instant. Both coordinates matter for the side-by-side comparison.

Choosing a house system

The page offers Whole Sign, Equal House, Porphyry, and Placidus. Placidus falls back to Porphyry where its cusps cannot be computed. A missing or uncertain birth time makes local angles and houses unreliable, so check the source record before interpreting a small difference between places.
