What a sector position measures
These sectors divide each body's own daily path above and below the local horizon. Sector 1 begins at rising, 10 marks upper culmination, 19 begins at setting, and 28 marks lower culmination. The numbers advance clockwise through the wheel. Because declination changes the length of a body's visible and hidden arcs, a Gauquelin sector is different from a zodiac sign or a numbered astrological house.
The gold areas reproduce the historical labels “plus zones” for sectors 36–3, 9–12, 19–21, and 28–30. The label describes a grouping used in Gauquelin research; this calculator does not turn it into a personality score, prediction, or claim of statistical significance.
