Oriel can cast The Nameless One Unbound to erase his name from every curse, oath, and claim made upon it. The candle can then carry toward extinction a bond that no longer renews itself merely by calling him.

He can cast Cut the Charm from the Heart where a red wax-thread appears between brass and breast, severing the link between the binding charm and the heart it controls. Chosen care remains; the charm loses its route into that care.
The upright flame now holds the distinction between vocation and compelled service. Wax records separation without pretending freedom requires indifference.

On the next Thursday, the flame rises without leaning. The clock strikes without speaking Oriel’s name, and he declines the heir’s demand while continuing the conservation work he chose. He lets the wax cool without treating every shape as a fresh command.
The candle’s deepest office is temporal: it creates a before, an active interval, and an after. The clear path is not endless flame but a world in which the old hour can finally remain past.
