Every Sunday, Vesper and Corren play chess beneath the sunroom’s painted ceiling. The brass clock between them was Vesper’s anniversary gift, privately enchanted years ago so that Corren would feel desire flare whenever she defeated him. Then Ilyan—Corren’s former university rival—joins their winter games. By February, Corren and Ilyan are lovers. Vesper knows because they tell her, not because a jar cracks, a rook falls, or jealousy guesses correctly.
Vesper wants the third party removed, but the vessel poses a harder question: removed from which bond, and from whose magic? Ilyan can leave the affair without becoming an enemy. Corren can end one romance without being sealed into another. Vesper can close the triangle without hiding the old glamour she placed upon the game.
A third party removal spell jar is an architecture of relations. Triangular placement identifies three separate people. Blocking names the bond that must close. Isolation confines one influence rather than one human life. Redirection gives each desire somewhere to go. The final opening proves the vessel was a temporary jurisdiction, not a private prison.

A triangle must identify three subjects, not one villain
A removal jar often centers the rival as contaminant and treats the couple as a single innocent body. That geometry hides the participating partner’s choices. A triangle exists because three separate lines are active: Vesper–Corren, Corren–Ilyan, and Vesper–Ilyan. Each carries different material.
Vesper and Corren share twelve years, a home, and the private history of the enchanted clock. Corren and Ilyan share attraction, revived competition, and an affair they have now disclosed. Vesper and Ilyan share neither romance nor employment; their relation is the difficult witness each provides to the other’s account.
The first magical discipline is therefore separation of identities. No crossed names, shared photograph, or pronoun should let “the couple” swallow Corren’s agency or let “the intruder” erase Ilyan’s personhood.

03 / KNOWING BEFORE CHOOSING
The triangle cannot end cleanly while desire remains misnamed
Removal is often attempted before anyone knows which bond is wanted. That produces a jar designed to deliver Vesper’s preferred answer while calling it clarity. The stronger first movement is threefold knowledge.
The dilemma becomes explicit if Vesper works The Three Hearts Decide, which ends a love triangle by making each person know exactly whom they want. Its power does not award Corren to the most deserving claimant. It makes concealed desire impossible to use as the triangle’s permanent engine.
Knowledge can still hurt. Corren may choose Ilyan, Vesper, or neither. Yet a removal jar built after that revelation addresses an actual line rather than sealing suspicion into glass and waiting for reality to resemble it.
ILLUSTRATIVE CASE THE THIRD PLAYER AT THE CLOCK
Vesper tries to seal a rival and finds her own enchantment between them
Suppose Vesper once charmed the brass chess clock so Corren would feel desire whenever the opponent across the board defeated him. She meant the role to name herself. Years later, Ilyan takes that chair, presses that clock, and inherits a magical office Vesper never bound to one identity. The affair is real; so is a glamour Vesper placed before Ilyan arrived.
Vesper imagines Ilyan’s name alone at the bottom of the vessel. That would turn a whole person into the problem while leaving Corren’s choices, Vesper’s enchantment, and the misaddressed role untouched.

THE TURN
Vesper’s strongest act is not pushing Ilyan farther down. It is admitting authorship, isolating the clock’s glamour so Corren can encounter his own feelings without it, and then requiring all three people to answer what remains.
04 / ISOLATE THE INFLUENCE
A jar can confine glamour without inventing innocence
When a magical influence is present, isolation means giving it a boundary: this clock, this assigned role, this repeated surge at defeat. The vessel can hold the influence apart while the people remain outside it. That distinction stops containment from becoming symbolic imprisonment.
Corren still needs access to feelings the glamour did not author. By casting See the Heart Beneath Glamour, he can see his own true feelings through any glamour placed over him. The spell fits because it reveals rather than reallocates desire; whatever Corren then admits belongs to the case instead of the brass clock.
Clear sight does not absolve his secrecy, erase Vesper’s authorship, or guarantee her preferred relationship. It restores the evidence upon which responsibility can finally rest.
05 / THE FINAL OPENING
The vessel must know when to release all three names
A permanently sealed jar makes the triangle immortal in miniature. Every shake, inspection, and anxious glance keeps three people arranged around the same drama. The final opening is therefore part of the removal, not an afterthought.
The opening condition should be relational and observable: the affair has ended, the clock’s glamour no longer acts, the game has ceased to assign romantic roles, or the three decisions have been spoken. Then each name leaves separately. No pair is glued together as the automatic remainder.
Redirection matters because emptiness attracts repetition. Vesper needs a road beyond monitoring Corren and hiding her authorship. Corren needs a future he can own. Ilyan needs to become more than the role of rival, whether the friendship survives or ends.
06 / AFTER THE TRIANGLE
Two people remaining does not recreate the former pair
If Ilyan leaves, Vesper and Corren are not transported backward. Disclosure changed the relationship. Trust, shared space, Vesper’s hidden enchantment, and Corren’s affair now require decisions of their own.
This is the jar’s final lesson. Removal can stop interference, expose desire, and close a bond. It cannot make the remaining people identical to who they were before the third point appeared.
On Sunday, the board can be folded and the brass clock left silent. Whether Vesper and Corren ever sit opposite one another again is no longer a question the sealed triangle gets to answer.
