Rank the seven classical grahas by their degree inside each sidereal sign to find the moving significators from Ātmakāraka to Dārakāraka. Select an eight-role view to include mean Rahu, whose ranking degree is counted backward from 30°.
What the ranking means
Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra, chapter 32 describes the graha farthest through its own sign as Ātmakāraka. The next positions are Amātyakāraka and the remaining movable significators. A graha at 25° Aries ranks above one at 20° Leo because the comparison is of progress through a sign, not absolute longitude around the zodiac. The sign itself remains useful context and appears beside every ranked graha.
The same passage permits Rahu in an eight-factor arrangement and explicitly subtracts Rahu’s within-sign longitude from 30°. The Jaimini Sūtras, I.1.11–13 also describes seven or eight factors.
