Being seen also creates exposure. Tavi may discover that Ren has already noticed and is uninterested, partnered, shy, distracted, or simply there to repair radios. Visibility opens the field to answers the crush did not author.

Desire tends to fill silence. Curiosity preserves it long enough to ask: What does Ren care about when no broken radio is on the table? Are they kind when repair fails? Do they ask other people questions? What happens when someone disagrees?

A love working aimed at curiosity should not make secrecy more alluring. It should create reciprocal movement toward information. Tavi’s attention becomes less enchanted with clues and more willing to meet an answer.

The distinction is decisive. Observation can remain one-sided indefinitely. Curiosity becomes relational only when Ren is free to turn the question back—or not.

First contact is not a compressed courtship. Its purpose is to exchange enough reality that the next choice belongs to two people rather than one elaborate hope. A name, a question, and a shared task can accomplish more than a perfect declaration.

Tavi’s greatest obstacle is not invisibility but the embarrassment that makes any introduction feel like an exposure of the whole crush. If first contact opens well, the next evidence is chosen recurrence. Ren remembers what Tavi said, asks whether the radio held its station, or suggests coffee after the repair shift. Tavi returns because the work matters too, not solely to engineer proximity.

Affection at Every Meeting makes the cumulative claim literal: Make someone’s affection for you deepen each time you meet. Tavi can work with that deepening only if real meetings continue and Ren’s conduct gives affection something actual to know; repetition by itself is not reciprocity.

This is where the crush either becomes history or remains choreography. Meetings produce disagreements, ordinary silences, inconvenience, kindness without performance, and choices neither person scripted. Affection worthy of deepening must be able to encounter all of them.

A sign such as “Ren wears blue” is weak because Tavi already notices blue. A song, number, or radio frequency can be recruited after the fact from an unlimited field. The strongest sign is behavior that the fantasy did not predict and cannot explain away.

The teenage volunteer’s treatment is such a sign. It does not reveal everything about Ren. It does reveal a pattern directly relevant to partnership: how they handle another person’s contribution when admiration flows toward them.

Evidence beyond fantasy can support attraction, complicate it, or end it. A spell designed only to confirm longing is not divination. It is stage lighting.

If mutual interest survives clear sight, the spell’s work changes. Attraction no longer needs to manufacture signs. The people can speak, meet, and decide. If the crush ends, attention returns to the life from which fantasy borrowed its detail.

Tavi’s repaired radio receives voices from elsewhere. It does not transmit. That fact can remain a beautiful metaphor without becoming a commandment. The appliance’s limitation is not Tavi’s destiny, and Ren’s skill at repairing it is not proof of tenderness.
