A bath places the whole skin inside a boundary. In hex-breaking magic, immersion can dramatize separation between person and hostile claim, but water does not know whether it is carrying residue, attraction, command, oath, or fear. The hex must be legible before release can be judged.

The bath’s office is not to make suffering unreal. It asks which influence was acquired, through what carrier, and what capacity returns when that relation ends.

A tasting judge cannot stop longing for one vintner

Suppose Amina judges a cooperative tea competition and drinks from a blue cup supplied by contestant Vero.

THE HEX IS NOT ONE SUBSTANCE

The cup’s attraction, the name-bound claim, and the hidden command require distinct releases. A bath can stage their separation but cannot make one office impersonate all three.

THE REVERSALAmina’s first proof is not strange water; it is the return of her ability to score Vero’s tea without longing or command.

Break the carrier before interpreting the water

Because the attraction began with an enchanted drink, Amina can work Purge the Enchanted Cup's Desire to remove every trace of attraction created by that drink. The power acts on the actual carrier, not on desire in general.

If the broader curse still advances through bathwater, she can cast The Curse Turned Inside Out, sending it to its maker with hidden strands revealed. Revelation allows the remaining name and command to be distinguished.

The body is witness, not evidence manufactured on demand

Heat, shivering, scent, or emotional release may matter within a declared sign system, but none independently proves a hex. Amina compares sensations with the command’s actual timing and her restored capacity.

The bath becomes analytically strong when it refuses spectacle. Water can mark transition while the verdict remains choice: can she encounter Vero, taste tea, hear her own nickname, and remain self-directed?

Drainage declares an ending; it does not erase consequence

Released water can symbolize the hostile claim leaving jurisdiction. It cannot revise scores already submitted or repair trust among contestants. Those consequences require their own correction.

A clean ending names what no longer acts and what remains to be done. Otherwise every later discomfort is recruited as proof the bath failed.

The restored faculty is the verdict

Amina’s freedom appears as ordinary discernment. Vero’s tea may be excellent or poor; the point is that taste, not enchantment, governs the score.

The hex-breaking bath succeeds when skin, name, appetite, and command cease forming one hostile circuit. Water carries the declaration, while restored choice proves the break.

The bath also establishes a before and after without requiring Amina to despise everything associated with the cup. She may still enjoy the tea, remember the competition, or feel ordinary attraction later. What cannot remain is the automatic bridge from sensation to obedience. This is why restored choice outranks a spectacular sign: it permits complexity where the hex demanded only one answer.

Any remaining consequence receives its own name. Corrected scores, explanations to contestants, and renewed trust are not impurities waiting for another wash. They are social repairs undertaken by someone whose agency has returned.
