What this chart measures

A heliocentric chart places the Sun at the centre of the calculation and gives the directions of planets as viewed from there. Earth appears in the planet list; the Sun is the central origin and therefore has no position to plot. The wheel gives tropical longitudes in the true ecliptic and equinox of the selected date. The table also reports ecliptic latitude and distance from the Sun in astronomical units. The wheel is a circular index of directions; it does not draw orbital distance to scale.

Enter the birth instant in UTC. If your record is in local clock time, convert it to UTC using the historical offset that applied on that date before entering it. This page deliberately does not guess an offset from a modern location setting. Birthplace is not needed for Sun-centred planetary positions. The local date and time remain in your browser while the calculation runs.

Different from an Earth-centred birth chart: no Ascendant, Midheaven, houses, or horizon are calculated here. Those depend on a location on Earth and belong in a geocentric chart. The Moon is omitted because it orbits Earth and needs a separately defined lunar convention for a Sun-centred reading.

The points are geometric Sun-centred positions from the bundled Astronomy Engine library, converted to the ecliptic of date. They are not apparent sky positions as seen from Earth. Earth often lies approximately opposite the Sun's geocentric longitude, but only a like-for-like comparison of coordinate frames and apparent/geometric conventions supports an exact numerical check.
